Cemetery Register

Unfortunately, the Cemetery Register tool is currently under maintenance. This tool is to be available in April 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Cemeteries Register is a digital mapping system that indicates the location of a gravesite when you search for a deceased person’s name.

It provides:

  • details about the plot
  • the date the person was buried
  • the name of any other person buried in the grave
  • the location of the plot in the cemetery.

Who will be able to use this information?

If you are researching your family history, you will find this system useful as it shows the exact location of each gravesite.

It also shows where grave sites are reserved, occupied or vacant, which will assist cemetery administrators and funeral directors, among others.

I can’t find the information I’m looking for. What should I do?

More information will be added to the system over time.

Council took control of the cemeteries in Kempsey Shire in 1967, and unfortunately there are some unknown or unmarked graves and incomplete records.

The Macleay River Historical Society has an extensive collection of local history and family files, including cemetery records. These are available to anyone researching local families, locations and topics.
