Cat and dog cuddling

In honour of our furry friends, August in our shire was Macleay Valley Pawgust.

We challenged all dog owners to be their best mate's MVP by taking the pledge to keep your dog on a lead, check your dog's registration details and take part in some online dog training.

In return we've got some yummy treats... sorry prizes!

It's important to keep dogs on leads for a bunch of reasons, including saving koalas. Dog attacks are the third biggest risk to our koala population.

So take the lead this month and take the pledge. In return you will get:

  • Access to dog training videos - weekly videos for the month of September.
  • Access to love 'check-ins' with a dog trainer.
  • Support in checking your pet registration.

All that plus the first 150 pets to take the pledge will get a free pet tag and lead.

But woof there's more!

Every week in August we will be drawing a name at random from the pets who have taken the pledge to recieve a voucher for one of the great pet services in the shire.

If you didn't make the pledge and Take the Lead, you can still check your pet's registration details right now.

Oh and we know we're not the original Pawgust - we just love the puppy pun. The OG Pawgust title goes to Guide Dogs Australia and their campaign is a great fundraiser for guide dogs on Australia and New Zealand so check it out at www.pawgust.com.au
