Summary 

Council recently completed a major upgrade of the car park and amenities in Clyde Street, Kempsey. The project involved: 

  • replacing the water mains and water infrastructure under the car park 
  • renewing the car park area
  • replacing the ageing public toilet block
  • creating safer links to surrounding businesses for pedestrians 
  • creating easier access for vehicles.

Timeframe

The project was completed in September 2021.

Background

In 2018 Council engaged with businesses and the community about the need for a revitalisation of the car park and toilet facilities at Clyde Street, Kempsey.

Subsequently Council received funding of $350,000 from the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and $300,000 from the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund for the project. Council also allocated $350,000 to the upgrade in its Operational Plan.

The construction contract was awarded to Osborne and Dowling at the April 2020 Council meeting.
