Crescent Head’s Rankine Street revitalisation gets underway

The village of Crescent Head can look forward to an improved shopping precinct with revitalisation works commencing at Rankine Street.
The first stage of the Crescent Head Village Renewal Plan is underway and will see improvements to the streetscape infrastructure between Scott and East Street including the footpaths, ramps, seating and landscaping.
The Crescent Head Village Renewal Plan is part of the broader Crescent Head Public Domain Project that was adopted by Council in October 2020. While there has been debate regarding the foreshore elements of the plan, the Rankine Street renewal was a widely popular initiative with the community.
Kempsey Shire Council Mayor, Liz Campbell, celebrates the beginning of the revitalisation project that will both enhance the village centre and preserve its coastal charm.
“This renewal project delivers a welcomed upgrade of this vital area in Crescent Head, improving not only the aesthetics but the traffic and pedestrian movements around the village centre,” said Cr Campbell.
“I would like to thank the federal Government for their support. This is a perfect example of how hard work on the Master Plan delivers great results. With fully developed, community accepted plans in place, we can secure the grant funding that enables us to deliver for our communities.”
The redevelopment has been made possible thanks to federal funding of approximately $800,000 under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and a Council contribution of $76,000.
Federal Member for Cowper, Pat Conaghan, said the project brings much more than a cosmetic fix to the shopping area and Kempsey Shire.
“The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program helps local councils to create jobs by delivering priority local road and community infrastructure projects throughout the Cowper electorate.”
