Parking at sports fields

Kempsey Shire Council are committed to working with all of the Shire’s excellent sports clubs to provide vital community services and resources.

Council in partnership with the clubs are reminding community members not to park on the grass at any of our playing fields.

Recently clubs have reported an increase in parking on the grass at Eden Street and Verge Street playing fields, particularly near Sydney Street which presents a very dangerous situation in an environment filled with children.

The club volunteers who monitor the fields are working hard alongside Council throughout the year to ensure the condition of the playing fields are suitable and safe for public use.

Council realises that the major works occurring at the Verge and Eden Street fields have impacted some carpark usage, however surface issues caused by vehicles has the potential to delay the delivery of this project.

If parking on the fields becomes an ongoing issue, Council will have to review enforcement measures including tightening restrictions and issuing parking fines.
