High river warning Georges Creek gauge on Macleay River

Update 4pm Friday 27 August

The river level rise initially seen at George’s Creek peaked at approximately 4m during the afternoon of Wednesday 25 August.

The flow has now progressed downstream through to Kempsey with minimal impacts seen.

The river level at Georges Creek has now returned to 2m, with no further rises expected at this point in time.

At this stage, it seems the river has peaked at Georges Creek.

Council will continue to monitor the river.

Residents are advised to monitor the river levels via the Bureau of Meteorology website and act accordingly

The Georges Creek gauge on the Macleay River measured 4m at 2pm on Wednesdy 25 August. 

This rise is due to wet weather experienced in the upper Macleay Catchment over the last 24-48 hours.

Please be aware that this rise may impact low level bridges that cross the Macleay River, with Bellbrook Bridge at the highest risk of overtopping.
