Willawarrin Hall

Community halls and facilities play an important part of everyday life in our shire. These venues provide a variety of functions, from being a place to meet and gather socially, to becoming evacuation centres during emergencies.

Kempsey Shire Council is fortunate to have a number of community groups and businesses who put their hand up to help operate and maintain the range of facilities offered to the community.

These venues are operated by volunteer committees or through a lease or licence. The committees are called 355 Committees, named after section 355 of the Local Government Act which enables Council to form committees to operate Council venues.

If you or a team you are part of are interested in helping to run one of Council’s halls or tennis facilities, think about joining a committee or taking up a lease or licence.

Volunteer to join a committee

One way community members can be involved with the functioning of Council is to become a member of one of the 355 Committees.

These committees assist in the operation of community venues such as the Crescent Head Community Hall, Kempsey District Silver Band, Willawarrin Hall and Macleay Valley Community Art Gallery.

Committees are holding their Annual General Meetings over the coming months and are inviting interested members to participate.

Expressions of interests to lease/licence

Council is seeking expressions of interest to lease/licence the building of the former Smithtown Medical Centre (venue only, not a functioning medical centre), Smithtown Hall, Gladstone Tennis Facility and Kempsey Girl Guide Hall.

For more information on leasing or licencing these venues, please visit ksc.pub/Tenders. Expressions of interest close 28 July 2021.
