Many hands needed as Kempsey’s BlazeAid camp opens

Do you have any spare time to help flood-affected residents get back on their feet?

Volunteer organisation BlazeAid have opened their Kempsey Camp at the Kempsey Showground to help flood-impacted residents repair fencing and property damage.

While the camp is up and running, BlazeAid are still looking for volunteers to assist in helping the community since the recent storms and flooding swept across the valley.

"Anybody who can donate some of their time, a day, a week, whatever you can give will make a difference; the important thing is to get help to those who need it most,” says camp coordinator Mary Howarth.

“No experience needed but we welcome experienced fencers wishing to mentor and be team leaders.”

If you are interested in staying at the camp, there are RV and camping facilities onsite at Kempsey Showground.

BlazeAid volunteers are provided with daily meals in return for their support in getting community members back on their feet.
