Salary and conditions of employment

Kempsey Shire Council salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the relevant industrial award. All full-time staff receive four weeks of annual leave and 15 days of sick leave each year. Work hours vary depending on the section you work in.

Payment of wages

Salary and wages are paid weekly into your preferred bank account.

Interview expenses

Unless extenuating circumstances apply, we do not pay for interview or relocation expenses.

Probation

Your appointment is subject to a three-month probation period. Your supervisor will conduct regular check-ins with you during this time. If your performance is satisfactory, you will receive a permanent position.

Vehicle usage

We have vehicles available for official work tasks. Staff using a Council vehicle must produce the relevant current driver's licence.

Staff development and training

Council is committed to ongoing staff development and training. We support and encourage employees to attend training and take part in study for approved courses.

Workplace health and safety

Council is committed to providing employees with a safe and healthy work environment. We have a range of workplace health and safety policies and procedures to make sure staff are not placed at risk while at work.

Employee Assistance Program

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides professional counselling and referral services. These fully confidential services are available for employees or their families who are going through personal or work-related problems. There is no cost to the employee for the first three sessions.

Code of Conduct

All our staff are required to follow our Code of Conduct, to act with honesty, integrity and diligence, and to use a high degree of care when carrying out their functions.
